We can and should be “filled” with the Holy Spirit many times in life. The Lord “fills” us with the Holy Spirit to help us with certain tasks and assignments. Each Sunday I pray, “Lord, fill me with your Holy Spirit so I can preach your Word.” BUT, many treat the baptism of the Holy Spirit as a separate event apart from receiving the Holy Spirit at salvation and apart from being “filled” with the Spirit. Although I understand their treatment of the “baptism of Spirit” as a unique event, I tend to equate being “baptized” in the Holy Spirit with receiving the Holy Spirit at salvation.

I’m not sure if I will address it in this series. Personally, I believe we are “filled” by the Holy Spirit on many occasions for the tasks at hand, but I believe we are “baptized” with the Holy Spirit at the time of our salvation.

How are you going to address the baptism of the Holy Spirit as described in Acts 1, 2, 4 and 11? I believe we are all filled with the Holy Spirit when we are saved, but that there is a separate “baptism,” not of water, but from the Spirit that takes place, that brings a greater power and boldness to the believer. I’d love to hear your thoughts.
