During election season, we hear lots of promises. Well, this week my sermon is actually called Promises. We’re going to look at some promises I’m making to the people of First Baptist as their new Senior Pastor. As Joshua looked back over his life he could say with confidence:

“Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the LORD your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.” ¬†Joshua 23:14 (NIV)

God’s promises never fail, but unfortuantely, my promises sometimes do. Without mentioning names, can you think of a promise that someone made to you that they failed to keep?

Thanks Jeremy and Jaime! It’s been an awesome first two days! It feels sooooooo right being back in the pastorate and being at Shelbyville. Thanks for the shout-out about the blog. I hope it helps many of us as we walk through life together.
