Book: “90 Minutes In Heaven”

90-minutes5I am attempting to read a book-a-week in 2009 for a total of 52 books. The book I completed first is called 90 Minutes In Heaven. In this book, Don Piper recounts the tragic car accident that left him dead for an hour and a half.  During this time, the Southern Baptist minister tells about his experience in Heaven.

Piper’s description of Heaven is fascinating and believeable. Nothing from his experience seems to contradict the Bible’s description of Heaven, but his account does shed new light on Heaven.

The book reminded me that our loved ones who were believers are in a far better place that is beyond our earthly comprehension and understanding. What a beautiful place Heaven must be! The next book I am reading is The Life You’ve Always Wanted by John Ortberg.

  1. I read 90 Minutes in Heaven several years ago and enjoyed it. If I were him I would have had a hard time coming back. My imagination lets
me hope that I see all the ones who have gone before me (and there have been many)waiting for me and beckoning me. If the natural order happens …..I’m next to go. Parents/grandparents/aunts/uncles are all gone. That’s a funny feeling!

  2. Yeah….me too. All of my grandparents are gone along with my mom. Fortunately, I still have my dad. What a wonderful place Heaven must be!

  3. you’ve been to atleast 3 funerals this week and probably average 1/wk since you started – I’m wondering about your book choice. I don’t blame you for eating peanutbutter ice cream after your week. I’m sure it has been a long one !

  4. Thanks. I really enjoyed the ice cream. I even broke down tonight and had a can of Vienna Sausages….now that’s some fine dining.
