Sermon Series on Heaven

I’m thinking and praying about preaching a sermon series on Heaven.  If I do, I’ll probably kick it off on Easter Sunday.  In all of my years as a pastor, I have never preached an entire series on the eternal home of the believer. 

Does the topic of Heaven interest you?  Do you think others will be interested in the topic?  Do you personally have questions about Heaven?

I need your help with the series.  What are some questions you think I should address?  Thank you in advance for your help.

  1. There will be many that will have questions about this important subject….

    I would like to know…God,being ALL knowing,why did He allow Satan to go as far as he did. Meaning, why allow Satan to think of himself as being so important as to lead an uprising in Heaven and rebell against Him? He already knew Satan and his personality,why allow it to get that far? I don’t have a clue on this one…..

  2. Mike, that is a good subject and I thank you for bringing it up. I would like to know about so many things………….I know I’m saved and trust in HIM but wonder about how we are going to answer to our sins….its a bit scary to me. I also want to know about smaller issues like are animals in heaven? I think so….we have found scripture in my sunday school class that says yes….but I’m a rookie on the bible. I guess my BIG thing is what I said before…………it will be so AWESOME to meet HIM but so scared as to how I will respond to HIS questions………

  3. I would like to know if we will remember our past life and remember people in heaven? What will we do in heaven? What will our “body” resemble? Will we feel emotions?

  4. Steve,
    This is a topic that you don’t hear talked about much. There is much debate about different heavens (Johns addressing a new heaven, etc…). I have found that many people are naive to the 2nd coming of Christ when he comes back to call his saints away in the air, and the time when he comes back to earth and splits the mount of olives in two. There is also much confusion leading to the thousand year millenium rein on this earth, and if the earth will be transformed into a form of heaven on earth.
    There is also much debate as to whether or not we will have spiritual bodies or physical bodies uninhibited by gravity or the things that hold us down on this earth. Obviously we will be able to eat food, if we are going to partake in the marriage feast of the lamb.
    I have always been intrigued with Heaven being forever. That is the hardest thing for my finite mind on this earth to wrap my thoughts around. We are so used to things being for a term. Infinite is not a concept that we can even begin to conceptualize.
    So yes, I would personally like to hear a series taught on Heaven, as well as the events preceeding and leading up to us getting there. PREACH ON, BROTHER…

  5. I would like to know if I am going to recognize all of the people that are in Heaven waiting for me – I want to know who is going to meet me at the Gate….
